Doctors treat over 10,000 OPD cases under Mahan Coal s CSR initiative
Singrauli, August 08: Doctors treated 10,451 patientsfrom Ameliya, Budher and Suggo villages in the past two year as part of Mahan Coal Ltd’s CSR initiative.Previously, these villages had almost no healthcare facility and sick villagers had to either trudge to the district headquarters about 35 km away or manage with village quacks.

Mahan Coal Ltd. has renovated the Govt. Primary Healthcare Sub-centre after taking necessary permission from the District Collector and District Chief Medical Officer in October 2012.A doctor, female ANM and a pharmacist visit the health sub centre daily.

Besides this initiative, over 10 free health camps were organized by MCL over the past two years where specialists from the district centretreated the villagers for diseases ranging from basic cough and cold, fever, blood pressure to serious cases of malnutrition, weak eyesight and heart related problems. Mother and child healthcare is also a key focus area of this programme.

According to village Sarpanch Sri Santosh Singh, “Villagerscan now access primary medical care at their doorstep after MCL tookthe responsibility of running the village healthcare facility. Not only has it helped in ensuring that children, old people and women get treated early, the general health of the village has improved. This free of cost service saves us time and cost of travelling to the district centre or paying local quacks.

Incase of emergencies, MCL organizes a vehicle to take patients to the district hospital and also providessupport in effective implementation of different government health schemes.

MCL CEO Ramakant Tiwari says We want to bring basic healthcare facilities to these villages, which till now had almost no access to modern medicines and treatment. The response is overwhelming and I would like to thank the district administration, health officials and the doctors for becoming part of such an initiative. It is our endeavour to ensure that the villagers live a healthy and disease-free life
The medical programme has resulted in a significant improvement of the health of the villagers, especially, children, women and old people. MCL will continue to work for the betterment of the villagers as part of its CSR programme and its commitment to local community development
